Restoration works with the contractor in the Valley of the Grote Beek

The larger nature restoration works in the Grote Beek Valley as part of LIFE Multi Peat have started. Over the coming months, the contractor will carry out a great deal of restoration work here. Various ponds will be filled in, canals will be filled in and storage will be removed.

It took a lot of time and administration, but now the larger development works have finally started. In various parts of the Grote Beek Valley, many ponds are now being restored and plot canals are being filled in. This will allow the natural hydrology to be partially restored and will better protect the peat layer against extreme droughts.

It probably won't look very nice in the first year. But within a few years, these parts of the valley will become beautiful natural gems, the peat layer and all the stored carbon will be preserved, and biodiversity will get a boost.
